The Product Page is a mix of Raku and Stoneware. Each is unique to its own method of creating and firing. Recently  I have added painting to my artistic skills. I started in January 2019. I enjoy painting and have a few that are for sale. Raku firing has become very popular with artists like Joyce, who takes advantage of the amazing colors, textures and details brought out by this firing method. This method gives raku pottery a copper tone and smoked appeal. The appearance of raku products is the result of firing the clay to 1750 degrees F. Once this temperature has been reached, the piece is removed from the kiln and can be either smoked or flamed in the after burn chamber. The overall look will be shiny or matte depending on the glaze and the after burn giving it a rainbow of beautiful copper toned colors. Raku pottery is a challenge to create, but Joyce always rises to the occasion. Her raku pottery collection consists of spirit jars and vases. Read more on the Raku Gallery page and see photos of the process on the Raku Gallery page. Stoneware and porcelain pottery is fired to a very high temperature. 2380°F to be exact. The appearance is quite different than Raku. Joyce chooses white stoneware for my functional pieces for its’ fluid nature and neutral backdrop for my glazes. It is very sturdy and can handle everyday use. The pieces are functional, water tight, food, dish washer and oven safe to 350°F. Many are chosen to piece with simple or complicated designs with the rim being sculpted to enhance the pattern.
